Congratulations Te’Shon and Carlos!

CodeWorks 2017 is a wrap! This summer 2 LET’S GO STEM Scholars from Baltimore City completed the CodeWorks 2017 with Code In the Schools. Carlos pictured on left with Dr. Clark ‘Corky’ Graham and Te’Shon pictured on the right with his family took a 5-week coding boot camp, earned college credit, and got paid. The 2017 program, held at the University of Baltimore, was offered to more than 60 youth this summer. The 60+ students spent their mornings participating in a diverse number of classes, ranging from Game Design to Racial Injustice. These morning classes also offered the cohort the chance to earn 1 college credit. In the afternoon, the students learned various programming languages like JavaScript, CSS and HTML. Utilizing their new skillset, some of the students created their own independent projects. Code in the Schools partners with the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development YouthWorks program in Baltimore City. This fall Carlos starts his sophmore year at Edmonson High and Te’Shon returns to Green Street Academy for his Junior year. new-photo
