Washington School for Girls in Washington, DC wanted to brighten up student knowledge about energy and electricity. This year, girls from both campuses come on Saturdays to learn all about electrical circuits using different materials. In the lesson, Squishy Circuits, students experiment with Play-Doh, modeling clay, and a battery pack to light up LED bulbs.
LETS GO succeeds when students are able to make the connection from our class discussions to real life situations. Many students were able to make the correlation to things like ceiling or Christmas lights to gain a better understanding of how the flow of electricity or electric currents works.
