Ellin Rittler is serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA member this year with the LET’S GO Boys and Girls team in Baltimore to develop a program that will provide customized, targeted STEM enrichment experiences for LET’S GO STEM Scholars.
She will be implementing STEM Scholar events and developing processes for connecting LET’S GO STEM scholars to high-quality STEM opportunities. She will also be creating a quarterly e-newsletter that highlights local STEM opportunities and educates families and youth on the value of pursuing a career in a STEM field.
Ellin attended Baltimore School of the Arts in Baltimore City before pursuing a degree in Environmental Science from the University of San Francisco. With a fellowship from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts, she then investigated marine policy and the socioeconomic value of sustainable food systems before working as a water quality scientist on an aquaculture farm in Virginia. Returning to Baltimore as a VISTA, she is motivated to expand STEM opportunities in the community and work towards supporting an equitable and inclusive STEM workforce.
