Engineering requires an EDP or Engineering Design Process. One of the steps is to test your design. Here students in DC are testing a lifeboat they created to save passengers (pennies) from a sinking ship.
LET’S GO works with instructors to use the testing phase as an opportunity to question students on their design choices—why did they pick the materials they did, are these the results you wanted, what is happening, and would you do anything different and why. Giving students the voice to question their own design and talk though issues or ideas is imperative and a key component of the support we offer to our partners to encourage students to critically think and problem solve for themselves.
