Students Learn How to Think Like a Bioengineer

On April 5, 2019, LET’S GO was invited to participate in the annual Lakeland STEM Fest—an entire school day dedicated to STEM learning at Lakeland Elementary/Middle School. Among many other local STEM partners in Baltimore, LET’S GO facilitated activities for students that encouraged hands-on, minds-on STEM learning. 90 eighth graders spent their morning with LET’S GO learning about bioengineering prosthetic limbs.

After discussing what type of robots they use on a daily basis—and learning about end effectors, the part of the robot that interacts with the environment—each student participated in the “Robot Bodies: Building a Robot Hand” activity.

The students were challenged to creatively and thoughtfully craft their own prosthetic hand!

Students learned concepts and applications of robotics in this engaging opportunity.
